Garden-248
Welcome to the memorial page for

Carolyn B. Merick

July 20, 1938

Carol B. Zimmerman-Spiegelberg-Merick (nee Carr) 79, passed into glory on Christmas Eve.

Born in Moultree, Georgia, on July 20, 1938 to John and Irene Carr. Married James Zimmerman in 1956 moving to Lorain then Oberlin where she made her home.

Her greatest accomplishment is her family. She raised 6 kids, mostly on her own. Always an entertainer and knew how to cook for the masses. You could never leave her house on an empty stomach or small trinket she picked up while she was out shopping. She wore her heart on her sleeve and you never had to wonder what she was thinking. She had great vision for her creative baking skills and was an avid gardener. She once was a winner of Oberlin’s Garden of the Month and voted Woman of the year in 1969 by the Oberlin Women’s Club. Her strength, spunk and determination will be missed by all those that knew and loved her.

Survived by Pam (Art) Cromer of Wellington, Kurt (Michele) Zimmerman of Oberlin, Lisa (Marty) Zimmerman of Austintown, Marty (Gina) Zimmerman of Colorado Springs, CO, Heidi (Scott) Byers of Wellington, Heather (Erik) Overly of Mount Gilead. Grandchildren Meredith, Cortney, Marisa, Tony, Steven (Amanda), Matthew, Mark, Tiffany, Jason, Cody, Danielle, Matthew and Nicholas. Great-grandchildren Kaleb, Kobe, Kiah, Lane, Alexis, Trejhon, Lamar, Corey, Aaliyah, Ava, Alaina and soon-to-be Aiden Joshua.

Preceded in death by husbands James Zimmerman in 1965 and Martin Merick in 1983, grandson Joshua Byers and daughter-in-love, Michele Zimmerman.

Much love to the staff at Welcome Nursing Home and New Life Hospice for their great love and care for our beloved mother. Donations in her name can be made to Welcome Nursing Home’s activities department. A private service will be held at a later date.
