Beloved husband, father, and Oberlin community member William Clarence Colley III passed away on June 7, 2025 at the age of 68. He was born in Ft. Campbell, KY on February 27, 1957 to parents Missie and Bill, and was the elder brother of JD. An engineer to his bones, Will was educated at the Ohio State University and then at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where he met the love of his life, Susan Jane (Morris). They were married on July 20, 1980 and moved to Oberlin in 1983. Their daughter, Urchin, was born on June 7, 1990 and raised among Will and Susan’s many spoiled cats.
Will had great affection for the Oberlin community, and was a familiar face at the Feve. He loved to brew beer, smoke meat, and share his delicious creations among his many friends. He pursued his greatest passion in his electrical engineering career, and cared for his colleagues at Logisync like a second family. He was a devoted and supportive husband, a joyful father, and he will be dearly missed by all.
Will is survived by his wife Susan, daughter Urchin, and CATSS rescues Ray and Bull. Viewing will be held from 6:00–8:00 pm on Thursday, June 12, 2025 and the service beginning 11:00 am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at Cowling Funeral Home, Oberlin. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to CATSS at https://www.catssoberlin.org/donate.
