William (Bill) David Annable of Oberlin passed away at the Keystone Pointe Health and Rehabilitation on July 9, 2022 at the age of 88. He joins his devoted wife and partner of 63 years, Elizabeth Ann (Betty) Annable who passed before him. Bill was born in Oberlin, Ohio on February 9, 1934 and was a graduate of Oberlin High School. Bill began his life’s adventure on a bus to Alaska where he joined the Army and explored the untamed lands with his brother Hank while developing a hobby of flying single seat airplanes. Later, Bill returned to Oberlin full of tales of adventures and worked to become a carpenter. It wasn’t long after his return that he attended a military sorority dance and met his future wife, Betty. They would marry on September 21, 1957 and raise 3 children together. Bill excelled as a carpenter and his workmanship touched many legacy buildings on Oberlin College’s campus. After retiring from Oberlin College, Bill enjoyed becoming an antique dealer with Betty and spent many years traveling to antique shows making friends and sharing their passion. In addition to antiques, Bill enjoyed sport shooting and reading. A local historian, Bill enjoyed living in the home that was in the family for over 150 years.
Bill is survived by son Ken (Kathy Sue) Annable, daughters Kim (Kelly Cameron) Annable and Kathy (Rob Shick) Olson, 4 grandchildren, and brother Henry (Hank) Annable. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth (Betty) Annable, parents John B “Jack” and Irene Davies Annable, and brother John Annable. A private burial at Westwood Cemetery will take place followed by a private Celebration of Life. Online condolences may be made to www.cowlingfuneralhomeoh.com.
