Shirlin E. Bosley Jr.

Shirlin E. Bosley, Jr., affectionately known as “Junior” and “Uncle J,” passed away on March 12, 2026 at the age of 63. Born on September 28, 1962, he was the oldest of four sons of Shirlin E. Bosley, Sr. and Ernestine J. “Tena” (née Hawkins) Bosley.

Junior graduated from Wellington High School in 1981 and later received his Associate of Arts degree from Lorain County Community College. He had a beautiful tenor voice. During high school, he sang in the choir and played in the marching band. He participated in several musical competitions and performed at many events, including the Ohio State Fair.

He built a career in aviation as an inventory manager. Before working in aviation, he was employed in the hospitality industry and at Radio Shack. Junior briefly lived in Kentucky and West Virginia before eventually returning to his hometown of Pittsfield.

Following the passing of his father, Shirlin Sr. in 2001, Junior lovingly served as a caregiver for his mother with the support of his three brothers. He was a devoted uncle and great-uncle who loved spoiling his nieces, nephew, and great-nephews on their birthdays and at Christmas.

He is survived by his mother, Ernestine “Tena”; his brothers, Kenny (Chris), Ron (Tammy), and Richard (Brenda); his nieces, Lynnette (Mike) and Emily (Mike); his nephew, Andy (Alex); and three great-nephews, Liam, Luke, and Jefferson.

Junior will be remembered as generous, funny, and deeply devoted to his family. His candid honesty always brought smiles and laughter to family gatherings. He fought cancer valiantly, with the one regret that he would not be able to watch his great-nephews grow up and see the paths their lives would take.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 16th from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Cowling Funeral Home in Oberlin. Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 17th at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
