Robert Wallace Obituary

It is with deep sadness and enduring love that we announce the passing of Robert (Henry) Wallace, who departed this world unexpectedly on June 20, 2026, after a courageous battle with a long illness. Born on November 24, 1944, in Decatur, Alabama, Henry lived a life rich in devotion, resilience, and joy that touched all who knew him.

Henry was the beloved son of the late Eugene Oscar Wallace and Queen Esther Orr. He was predeceased by his cherished siblings Walker Phillip, Franklin, and Gracie Mae, all of whom he held dear and spoke of often with great affection and fond memories.

A man of unwavering dedication, Henry retired from a distinguished career with the FAA as a contractor for GTE. He also served with honor in the Oberlin Police Department, dedicating 34 years to the safety and well-being of his community. His commitment to service was a testament to his character and steadfast integrity.

Henry’s love for the outdoors was evident in his passion for hunting, fishing, and camping. His appreciation for the beauty and serenity of nature was something he passed on to his family, instilling in them a respect for the world around them. Henry’s welcoming personality and quick wit made him a natural conversationalist, turning strangers into friends with ease. He was a man who found joy in connecting with others, always ready with a kind word or a listening ear.

He is survived by his loving children: Mekima Ballentine, Rhonda Mackey, Shani Bell, Sherri Wallace, Melanie Smith, and Steven Wallace. His legacy also lives on through his surviving brothers, Edward Wallace and Chester Wallace. As a grandfather to 16 grandchildren and a great-grandfather to 2 great-grandchildren, Henry’s family was his greatest pride and joy. He leaves behind a legacy of love, strength, and humor that will continue to inspire all who knew him.

Henry’s life was a testament to the power of kindness and the importance of community. His generous spirit and dedication to serving others were hallmarks of his character. He was a beacon of light and laughter, a man whose presence will be dearly missed but whose impact will be felt for generations to come.
