Loved by a host of family and friends, Ralph Edison Duey, age 89, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 27, in Oberlin, Ohio. Born in N. Little Rock, Arkansas, he was the son of the late James Franklyn Duey and Helen Wessels Duey Williams. Ralph leaves behind his beloved wife of 62 years Aleta Cantwell Duey and his daughters Carolyn Duey (Philip Wyard), Mary Ellen Murphy (William), and Margaret "Peg" Tucker, brothers John R. Duey (Martha) and the late Larry Duey, grandchildren Sarah Massin (Casey), Andy Tucker, Eric Tucker, Martin Wyard, Faye Wyard, and numerous nephews and nieces. Mr. Duey was a 1961 graduate of Fenn College (now Cleveland State University). He was a professional engineer and among other jobs was president and founder of Duey Engineering, a manufacturer of industrial heating equipment in Pennsylvania where the family lived for 50 years. He was also a U.S. Air Force veteran who served in Washington state and England during the Korean conflict. Over the years Ralph was an active member of various churches, Kiwanis, and Habitat for Humanity, and he enjoyed model building, gunsmithing, target shooting, and spending time with his children and grandchildren. The family extends a special thank you to Whitney Home Care of Wellington, the Navigator group of Hospice of the Western Reserve, and the Lorain County Office on Aging. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Parkinson's Foundation, Parkinson’s Foundation Great Lakes Chapter, Attn: Donor Services, 200 SE 1st Street, Suite 800, Miami, FL 33131, or a charity of your choice. Due to the pandemic, and out of concern for the health and safety of those he loved, a memorial service will be held at a future date when we are able to once again gather with family and friends.
