Philip L. Verda

Philip L. Verda 75 of Oberlin passed away suddenly on September 12 2022.  Philip was a lifelong resident of Oberlin.  He received his bachelors degree and would later receive his masters degree from Akron University.  He spent 26 years with the Oberlin Police Dept.  After retiring from the police force he began his second career as a licensed clinical counselor.  Philip enjoyed watching football, playing cards, traveling and spending time with family and friends.  He is survived by his wife of 53 years Vivian Verda, daughter Jennifer Verda, sister Brenda McCullough and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents Steve and Helen Verda, son Philip Sean Verda and  brother Bruce Verda.  A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday  11am September 22 2022 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with Father Trask officiating with refreshments being served following the services  in the education building next door.   There will be a private family burial at a later date.  In lieu of flowers Memorial contributions may be made to any police K-9 unit.  Online condolences may be made to www.cowlingfuneralhomeoh.com
