Michael C. 'Mick' Mackert

Michael C. 'Mick' Mackert, 72, of Oberlin, passed away at his home on April 28, 2020. He was born in Elyria on September 17, 1947.

Mick was owner and operator of Mick Mackert General Contractor for 40 years. He was a graduate of Elyria High in 1965 and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Mick was a member of the North Coast Building Industry Assc. and was named Honorary Lifetime Director by the Board. Mick had been a member of the association since 1987 and served on the Board of Directors from 1989 to 1999. Mick also served as Chairman of the Remodelor's Council from 1990 to 1992. Mick became President of the Builders Assc. in 1998 and later was inducted into the Builders Hall of Fame in 2004. Mick enjoyed golf, playing pool and traveling.

He is survived by his wife, Donna (Sabo) Mackert; son, Eric (Tara) Mackert; four grandchildren, Kaylen, Maximus, Wesley and Piper; one sister, Lordel Beal and a lifelong friend, Robert "Wazz" Petras.

There will be a gathering of family and friends on Sunday, October 9 2022 at 3 p.m. at Amherst Sportsman's Club, 47980 Cooper Foster Park Rd., Amherst, OH 44001.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project.
