Lana E. Wollenslegel (nee Karbler), born on January 9, 1951, in Sandusky, Ohio, left this world on December 11, 2025, in LaGrange, Ohio with her family by her side. She was a remarkable woman whose life was dedicated to her family, community, and the joys of simple pleasures.
Throughout her years, Lana nurtured her passions for gardening and baking, filling her home with the scents of fresh herbs and baked goods that would bring joy to all who visited. She was deeply proud of her time spent in the 4-H Club during her youth, which sparked her lifelong commitment to community involvement. Lana was very active in community service, volunteering as a cook at St. Andrews community meals and dedicating time to collect donations for the American Cancer Society.
Surviving is her son, Tad W. (Vanessa Rodriguez) Wollenslegel; step-grandchildren, Vincent DeMarco, Zakery (Candace) DeMarco, Sophia (Chris) Witten as well as her step-great grandchildren, Hope, Zayden, and Alice DeMarco who will carry her memory in their hearts. She is also survived by her siblings; twins, Larry Karbler and Linda Grahl, and Lois (Dan) Whyde, along with her step-brothers, Larry (Cathy) Bales and Roger Bales and her sister-in-law, Sandy Weilnau as well as a host of nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her loving pets, Waylon and KC whom she loved dearly.
Lana was preceded in death by her husband, Allan Wollenslegel, and her son, Trent Wollenslegel as well as her parents, William Lee and Florence Elizabeth (nee Mehling) Karbler, who instilled in her a sense of hard work and community spirit that she carried throughout her life.
Visitation will be held at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 360 Princeton Ave, Elyria, Ohio, 44035, on December 19, 2025, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. A reception will follow at the church. Cowling Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
