James J. "Jim" Pechaitis

James J. "Jim" Pechaitis 64 of Oberlin passed away at Metro Health Center in Cleveland on February 7 2017. He was born in Lorain on February 10 1952.  Jim was a graduate of Firelands High (1970) & Oberlin College (1974) with a degree in Agricultural Economics.  He worked at Ford Motor Co. retiring in 2006.  Jim enjoyed gardening, farming, refinishing furniture & cooking for loved ones.  He is survived by his wife Diana Pycraft Pechaitis, 2 daughters Amy (Brian) Burgess, Sarah (Pat) Rohland, 3 Grandchildren Owen & Porter Burgess, Lydia Rohland, 2 brothers Ted & Tom Pechaitis, uncle & friend to many. Jim was preceded in death by his parents Matthew & Doris Pechaitis & 2 brothers Matthew & Paul Pechaitis.  Visitation will be Thursday February 9 2017 from 4pm to 7pm at the Cowling Funeral Home in Oberlin.  A celebration of life will be held in Brownhelm United Church of Christ on Friday February 10 2017 at 11am with the Rev. Elizabeth Terrill officiating. There will be a private family burial in New Russia Twp. cemetery.   In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Brownhelm Historical Society.
