Gary Taylor Obituary

Gary J. Taylor, 83, of Oberlin, Ohio, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away Friday, February 16, 2024, in Lorain, Ohio, surrounded by his loving family. He was born June 4, 1940, in Ansted, West Virginia, to Alice (Skaggs) and Joseph Taylor.

He graduated from Ansted High School and immediately enlisted in the U.S. Navy, serving from 1958 to 1961 as a Radioman and Beachmaster. Gary moved to Ohio shortly after his honorable discharge. He was a machinist, and tool and diemaker for over 30 years, retiring from the Nordson Corporation in Amherst. He resided in Oberlin for over 40 years.

Gary is survived by his three loving children, Christine Hubbell of Elyria, Ohio, Leigh David of Chapel Hill, Tennessee, and Joseph (Angie) Taylor of Monclova, Ohio. Also surviving him are his niece, Debbie Martin; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois Ashby.

Gary was known for his sense of humor and wry chuckle. He enjoyed family gatherings, breakfast with his fellow retirees, and a good road trip. Dad was always there when you needed him and will be greatly missed.

A private family memorial will take place at a later date.
