Doreese Mae Hicks

Doreese Mae Hicks (nee Jackson) 95 of Sheffield Village, Ohio, went home to be with the Lord, passing quietly, February 15, 2017 at Mercy New Life Hospice in Lorain, Ohio

Born Doreese Jackson, on July 20, 1921 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Wilhemina and Reese Jackson, the family moved to Lorain, Ohio where she attended Lorain Schools and was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church.

Married to Harry Hicks they had four children; Martin, Robert, Kevin and Kellie.

Doreese was employed by Lorain City Hall as Secretary for many years before moving to Oberlin where her husband opened Hicks Dental Lab on West Lorain St.

The family moved to Toledo in 1964 where she was employed by Woodard & Harris, CPA.

Her first love was caring for her family and home.

Following the passing of her husband of 61 years in 2004, Doreese lived with her loving sister Lois Watson and for the last 17 months with the assistance and loving care of her daughter Kellie.

She leaves a host of family and friends to remember the joy she shared with those she loved; her sister; Lois Watson of Sheffield Village, Ohio; Sons; Martin (Marty and Lynda) of Oberlin, Robert (Bob and Mallory) of Lebanon, Ohio; Kevin (Michelle) of Solon; and Daughter Kellie Ann Young (Levi) of Toledo; Nephew Marc Watson of Michigan; 9 Grandchildren; 12 Great Grandchildren and 2 Great-Great Grandchildren.

A memorial service is planned for March 2, 2017, 1:00 at the Oberlin Christian & Missionary Alliance Church, 125 S. Pleasant St., Lester A. Allen ill, pastor.

In lieu of flowers the family asks donations be made to Mercy New Life Hospice, 3700 Kolbe Rd. Lorain, Ohio 44053.
