Chervyl Catherine Stoops (nee Hutchison), age 97, of Avon Lake, OH passed away peacefully in her sleep on October 22, 2024. She was born February 8, 1927 in Butler, PA to George and Laura Hutchison (nee Rice).
She grew up in Punxsutawney, PA and graduated from Punxsutawney High School. After years of travelling the world with her Army husband she settled in northern Ohio where she worked and retired from GTE in 1989 after 23 years of service. She was a devoted mother and loving grandmother. She was an avid reader and loved to knit.
She is survived by her children George (Lynn) Stoops of High Point, NC and Laura Carruthers of Avon Lake, OH; grandchildren Sierra Parkinson; Michael (Janeen) and Matthew Yuhasz; Lee, Sam and Anne Carruthers; Lydia, Eliza, Joseph and Jack Stoops; four great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her sister Margaret Hutchison; the father of her children Charles Stoops Jr.; her son Charles Stoops III; her daughter Robyn Yuhasz (Patrick – Decd); and her grandson Jason Stoops.
The family would like to extend a special thank you for the kind and helpful people from Cleveland Clinic Hospice.
Services will be held on November 12, 2024 at 1:00PM at Hope Lutheran Church, 4792 Oster Rd., Sheffield, Ohio 44054. Services will be conducted by Rev. Luecke. Inurnment will be privately held at Westwood Cemetery, Oberlin.
