Charles A. "Chuck" Thodt

Chuck passed away at Elyria Memorial Hospital after a short illness.  He graduated with a B.A. in 1950 & M.A. in 1953 from the Univ. of Iowa, also attending George Washington & Connecticut Universities.  Chuck served in the US Army serving in the far East 1951-1953 & retired from the army reserve as Colonel in 1980.  He worked from 1953-1956 at the Teachers College of Connecticut as Director of Public Relations & debate coach. 1956-1962 for the Aluminum Co. of America's Davenport, Iowa plant doing public relations & inventory control.  1962-1993 at the National Assc. of College Stores in Oberlin Ohio where he served in numerous capacities including: NACS foreman, education director, membership director & research director.  Chuck served 10 yrs. on the Oberlin Planning Commision.  Served 6 years as a Director of the Council for Non-Collegiate Continuing Education.  Shot muzzle loading rifles in competion since 1968 & built "museum quality" replica muzzle loaders since 1967. Taught country western line dancing with his late wife from 1995-present.  Chuck belonged to many masonic lodges, American Legion, Mansfield Muzzle Loader Rifle Club, Beaver Creek Sportsman Club, National Rifle Assc. National Muzzle Loading Rifle Assc. & North Coast Western Dance Club.  In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Neighborhood Alliance Oberlin Senior Center 90 East College St. Oberlin, Ohio 44074.  Online condolences may be made to www.cowlingfuneralhomeoh.com
