Charles "Big Chuck" Joseph Bukovec 79 of New Russia Township passed away at Welcome Nursing Home on April 17 2020. He was born in Cleveland on August 29 1940. Big Chuck served in the U.S. Army from 63-65 and was stationed at Ft. Sill, OK and Ft. Chaffee AR. He worked as a farm hand for Martin & Don Schuster's farm in Elyria. He worked in the maintenance department for Amherst School District 1969-1978 and Green Acres in Oberlin 1978-1995. He and his late wife were foster parents for 13 years for Lorain County Children's Services fostering 40 children, Member of Lorain County Farm Bureau, S. Amherst American Legion #0197, Membership Chairman for Lorain County Public Employee Retires Inc. Chapter #83, Life member of State P.E.R.I. Inc. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, cooking, fishing, mailing out cards and letters and spending time with family and friends. He will be remembered as a thoughtful, generous and helpful man. He is survived by his son James Bukovec and a special friend Mary Jane Toney of Oberlin. He was preceded in death by his parents Emil & Jennie Bukovec, wife Carolyn Bukovec and sister Emily Bukovec. There will be a private family graveside service at Evergreen Cemetery in S. Amherst officiating by Pastor Jeffrey Gindlesberger.
