Calvin K Davidson

Calvin passed away at home after a short illness. After He graduated from Camden High School he enlisted in Army Air Force. He became a radio operator & gunner on a B-24 liberator bomber with 93rd Bomb group 8th Army Air Force flying 31 missions over Germany occupied territory. He was awarded the Distinguished flying cross, the Air medal with 3 oak leaf clusters, European African Middle Eastern theatre ribbon with 3 campaign stars, WWII victory medal & Good Conduct medal. He was a life member of Vermillion Amvets Post 22, Oberlin VFW Post 6273. As a member of the second air division assc & 93rd bomb group assc. he has attended many reunions of both groups returning 3 times for reunions in England visiting his old air base at Hardwick, England the 2ADA Memorial Library in Norwich & the 8th Air Force Cemetery at Cambridge. Since 1996 he has been the treasurer of the 93rd Bomb group Assc. For 10 years he edited the Groups quarterly newsletter. He helped in the placing of memorials to his fallen comrades at Arlington cemetery, the mighty 8th Air Force Museum in Savannah, GA & the Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs Co. He retired from Johnson Furnace Co. after 27 years & operated the family farm until his retirement. His hobbies included Western square dancing, bowling, golf, Ameteur radio, reading & traveling. As a ham radio operator with call sign K8QGC he spent Monday & Tuesday mornings talking with old Air Force freinds in the US & England.There will be full military honors conducted by V.F.W.
