Caleb Alexander Hughley, born on February 10, 1999 and passed away Saturday, September 2, 2023 at 24 years of age.
Caleb was a 2017 graduate of Oberlin High School and attended one year at University of Toledo. He worked as a cook at the family’s business Quick and Delicious. Later he cooked for Dave & Busters and completed OSHA certification in carpentry.
Caleb was a basketball star, at a very young age he showed promise. He played several years with Next Level Images AAU Basketball team and won many tournaments and awards. One year they won an invitation to the National tournament. As an adult he had an opportunity to coach an AAU team of young boys. He took pride in inspiring them. In high school Caleb was awarded first team All Lorain County as well as numerous accolades. Caleb enjoyed playing soccer, baseball and football. Watching him play any sport was a pleasure. He also enjoyed fishing and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Whenever you saw him, he had a warm smile. He was always having fun and full of life.
Caleb is survived by his daughter, Rosalia Mae Hughley, who was his princess. Being her dad was the joy of his life. He is also survived by his mother, Tangela Davis; father, Howard Lawrence; brother, Austin Bullocks; sisters, Chevonne Bullocks, Shakia and Ava Lawrence; grandmothers, Sondra Miller and Maxine Smith; grandfather, James Miller; aunts, uncles and cousins. Caleb will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in his death by his great-grandmother, Shirley (nee Gray) Owens and grandfathers, Jerry Hughley and Howard Lawrence, Sr.
The Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, November 14, 2023 in Russia Township Hall, 46300 Butternut Ridge Rd. in Oberlin. Visitation is at 5 p.m. and the service at 6 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
