Betty Ruth Thomas, 89 of Oberlin, Ohio passed away on September 1st, 2023 in the hospital after battling a long illness. She was surrounded by her loving family.
She was born August 15, 1934 to Albert and Alice Quinn. She was the last to pass away of 12 children from their union. Betty was known for her blatant honesty (even when you didn’t want it), she did not bite her tongue. She was a very giving person and was known to make people laugh with her stories. She was also known for her “open door policy”. She always kept her door unlocked and all were welcome. She would lend her ear no matter what time of day or night. Betty was known to many as Ma, Mom, Aunt Betty, Grandma, Nan, and Nanny. She will be very missed.
She leaves to cherish her memory a son, Andre ”Todd”(Robin), a daughter, Brigittie(Don) of Cincinnati, 5 grandchildren; Megan, Caleb, Paris, Jazz , and Kiyana; 5 great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, a special niece (that became her plus daughter) Sandra Winn, and many others that loved her.
She was proceeded in death by her eldest son, Wallace “Jackson” or “Bank”, Thomas, her parents Albert and Alice(Fair) Quinn, her brothers; Allen, George, James, Albert, Sandy, and Grover Quinn, and sisters; Mary Blakely, Sarah Parker, Anna Quinn, Doris Jordan, and Beninta Jones. Betty encountered many health issues in her lifetime and battled them like no other. She fought to the end. She can put her shield down and rest now as the battle is over. She was the definition of a true warrior.
