Arqulia Bowens - Isom

Arqulia Bowens-Isom passed away very peacefully on Friday evening, October 11, 2019 at the Wesleyan Village in Elyria, Ohio. Arqulia was born on February 4, 1947 in Americus, Georgia. She is the oldest of five children to the late Morris, Sr. and Julia Bowens of Oberlin, Ohio.
Arqulia, a.k.a. "Que" attended Oberlin public schools from kindergarten through 12th grade and was a 1965 graduate of Oberlin High School. She attended Lorain County Community College. She retired from the marketing division of the Moen after 40 years of outstanding service. In her youth, Que was a very talented sketch artist, potter, and pianist. Also, in her leisure she enjoyed solving crossword puzzles, playing Scrabble, and solving word searches. Que was an outstanding roller skater in her teens. She sang in her high school and church choirs. However, her real passion and entertainment were later geared toward her Cleveland Cavaliers! In addition, Que loved playing cards with her friends; cooking lavish feasts for her family and friends; and reading detective novels. She enjoyed traveling and found real joy taking annual family road trips.

She is preceded in death by her beloved parents, Morris, Sr. and Julia Bowens, husband David, and her brother Clarence Bowens. She is survived by her brother Morris (Terrie) Bowens of Trotwood, Ohio; sister Dr. Roberta (Willie) Boyd of Huber Heights, Ohio; sister Joye LuCinda Bowens of Elyria, Ohio; nephew Adrian Allan (?Kita) Bowens of Reynoldsburg, Ohio; niece Hilari Nikkole Boyd of Gahanna, Ohio; and nephew Brandon Neil Boyd of Bloomington, Indiana, along with a host of other relatives and friends.

At Arqulia's request, a graveside service will take place on Friday, October 18, 2019 at the Westwood Cemetery at 10:00 AM in Oberlin, Ohio. The graveside service will be followed by a Celebration of Life memorial at the Mt. Zion Baptist Church Fellowship Hall in Oberlin, Ohio.
