Ray O. Reeder

Ray O. Reeder 85 of Oberlin passed away at his home surrounded by his loving family on September 30 2017.  Ray was a graduate of East Tech High School & attended Ferris College in Cleveland & L.C.C.C in Elyria. Ray worked at Ford Motor Company for 40 years retiring in 1995.   Ray was a member of Rust United Methodist Church of Oberlin. In service to others he fulfilled a vacant seat on Oberlin City Council in 1963.  He also served on Dollars for Scholars Scholarship Fund. He helped with his son Terry's Boy Scout Troop, enjoyed fishing & enjoyed teaching young children how to play chess. In support of others Ray enjoyed providing the Sparrows Bible Study Group with study materials at Rust Church.  He is survived by his wife of 61 years Jessie of Oberlin, daughter Leah H. Reeder of Ft. Wayne, In., daughter in law Diane P. Reeder Souhtfield, MI, grandchildren David J. (Latangela) Reeder Detroit, MI, Alexandrea (Jason) Lacey, College Station, TX. & 2 Great Grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents Rudolph Burns & Flora McManning,& son Terry.  Visitation will be Thursday October 5 2017 at First United Methodist Church 45 S. Professor St. Oberlin from 9:30am until services at 11am. There will be a private family burial in Westwood Cemetery on Friday Oct 6 2017.  In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Circle Y Ranch Childrens Bible Camp P.O.
