Matthew Mayo

Matthew Mayo 71 of Oberlin passed away unexpectedly at Allen Mercy Hospital on May 1 2018. He was born in Mullens, West Virginia on July 22 1946.  Matthew served in the US Army during the Vietnam War. He worked at Ford Motor Company as a driver for 42 years retiring in 2014.  He was a member of Bethel Logos Christian Fellowship Church of Oberlin. Matthew enjoyed yardwork, camping, travel & spending time with family & friends.  He is survived by his wife Shirley V. Mayo of Oberlin, 2 sons Michael Mayo of Washington & Marcus Mayo of Oberlin, daughter Marjean Mayo Baker of Oberlin, 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, 2 brothers Ross Mayo of Feyetteville, N.C. & James Mayo of Elyria, 2 sisters Minnie Bingham of Fort Washington, Md., Pandora Lockwood of San Diego, Ca.  He was preceded in death by his parents Lawson and Ola Mayo, son Matthew Mayo, 1 brother & 4 sisters.  There will be a visitation on Wednesday May 9 2018 at Bethel Logos Christian Fellowship Church from 10am until time of services at 11am.  Pastor A. E. Warren will officiate. There will be a private family burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers Memorial Contributions may be made to Bethel Logos Christian Fellowship Church.
