Deacon James Lancaster 104 of Oberlin passed away at Welcome Nursing Home on November 4 2018. He was born May 13 1914 in Ocello, Ga. James served in the Army during WW II. He worked for many years as a locker room manager for Elyria Country Club. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oberlin having served on the Deacon board for many years, and was a member of Oberlin's VFW Post. James also served as a chaplain for Allen Mercy Hospital and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He is survived by his 2 daughters Patricia L.W. Butler of Dublin, Ohio and Pamela L. Biragbara of Strongsville, Ohio, 2 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and 2 step great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Gilbert and Mamie Lancaster, wife Janie C. Lancaster and a brother Herman Lancaster. There will be a visitation on Friday Novemeber 9 2018 from 10am until services at 11am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with Rev. Fred L. Bell officiating.
