Dorothy B. West

Dorothy B. West 88 of Oberlin passed away September 21 2018.  She was born in Orlando, Fl. on September 21 1930.  She was  a graduate of Jones High in Orlando, Fl. & LCCC. She worked as a teacher & educational Coordinator for Headstart Program here in Oberlin, American Greeting Card Co.  Faithful member of Rust United Methodist Church, she served as Financial Secretary for 30 years and officer and member of Rust United Methodist Women, usher board.  Dorothy was a member of Oberlin Church Women United, NAACP, Negro Business and Professional Womens Club. She worked the poll stations for each election and volunteered for many organizations in Oberlin and Lorain County.  Dorothy is survived by her son Darrell West daughter in law Tonya Beal, daughter Jacquelyn (Stanley) Hopkins, grandchildren Ligaya, Stanley (Tolisha), Jennifer, Jocelyn, Vonda, Lea, Nina (Craig). 7 Great Grandchildren, god children and nieces and nephews.  3 sisters Rosemary Thomas, Lynne Woody, Patricia Mack.  Preceded in death by her parents Louis and Ruth Mack, Husband Louis West 2 brothers Jackie and Louis Mack.  There will be a memorial service at Rust United Methodist Church Saturday September 29 2018 at 1pm with Pastor Stanley Miller officiating.  Online condolences may be made to www.cowlingfuneralhomeoh.com
