Birdia M. Jackson

Birdia M. Jackson 67 of Elyria passed away on June 23 2017 at University Hospital Elyria Memorial after a short illness.  She was born on February 23 1950 in Americus, Ga.  She worked as a dietary supervisor at Welcome Nursing home for 42 years retiring in 2015.  Birdia was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oberlin & enjoyed crocheting, knitting, baking & most of all spending time with her grandchildren and great nieces & nephews.  She is survived by her son Rodney D. Jackson of Detroit, Mich 2 Daughters Luvinia R. Jackson of Elyria Lisa M. Farmer & her husband LTC. Robert L. Farmer III both of Stafford, Virg. 4 Grandchildren, 3 brothers Rev. Fred L. Bell, Richard Bell & James E. (Rachel) Bell Jr. all of Oberlin, 3 sisters Ruby J. Ghani of Oberlin, Norma J. Kimmey of Fayettville, Ga., Magnolia Tevis of Pinewood, S.C. & a host of nieces & nephews. Birdia was preceded in death by her parents James E. Bell Sr. & Bertha Bell, husband Johnny Jackson & brother David "Sonny" Bell Sr..  Visitation will be Wednesday June 28 2017 from 10am until time of services at 11am at Mt. Zion Baptist Church of Oberlin with the Rev. Deana Williams officiating.  Burial will be at New Russia Twp.
